Growing up on the Southern Mediterranean coast, the mild climate nurturing the neighborhood gardens as well as the senses, a fascination with flowers grew since childhood. What started out as a youthful enchantment transformed into a love affair with flowers and plants.
More than 25 years ago, acting on a hunch to take this calling further I worked out of the sink in my small apartment in Los Feliz. My fledging entity, Ra Designs, bloomed within the glamorous shops and environs of Rodeo Drive, and the beautiful interiors of A-List celebrity homes, I created beautiful settings for weddings and special events in the private gardens of the Bel Aire and other Hotels.
As the years passed with the privilege of trading one beautiful setting for another, my family and I eventually settled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, only 20 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. We acquired land large enough for agricultural purposes, and created a garden that produces generous, exquisite blooms that provide for a lush, otherworldly quality that combines to create beautiful arrangements. Every Spring, the garden undergoes an elaborate crescendo with the help of more than 1,200 roses in bloom, along with lilac, lavender, columbine, foxglove, amaranth, almond and peach blossoms.
